Just past security in T1, KFC sits on the main concourse.

This is standard Australian KFC, not an airport-only spin-off, so the menu looks familiar: Zinger burgers, Original Recipe pieces, and regular chips. Prices run a few dollars higher than a suburban store; think around AUD $12–$16 for a burger combo with drink. It’s grab-and-go counter service, so you order at the front and carry everything back to the general seating in the T1 departures area.

KFC in T1 typically opens early morning to catch the first domestic departures and trades through the afternoon bank of Jetstar, Virgin Australia, and Qantas flights. It’s airside, after security, so you can’t use it as a meet-up point with anyone still landside. Queue times spike hard in the 30–45 minutes before big Gold Coast–Sydney and Gold Coast–Melbourne departures, especially around school holidays.

Stick to the core items: Zinger burger, Original Recipe pieces, or a 3-piece box with chips and drink. Sides like potato and gravy, coleslaw, and dinner rolls are here, but limited-time promos you might see on TV often don’t make it to this small-footprint airport outlet. Drinks are standard fountain soft drinks and bottled water, no alcohol. Expect minimal customisation beyond “no lettuce” or “extra sauce.”

Seating is shared with the rest of T1, so you won’t find a dedicated KFC dining area, just common tables scattered along the departures concourse near multiple gates. Food usually comes out fast, but during peak holiday departures you can easily wait 10–15 minutes from payment to pickup. Staff move orders quickly, but the tiny fryers and warmer mean big bucket orders slow things down for everyone behind.

Tip: if your boarding pass shows a domestic T1 gate within the next 25 minutes, order a single burger or snack box only; larger box meals can take long enough that you end up speed-eating at the gate.
