Cactus & Coast sits post-security in Gold Coast Airport’s T1 and runs 9:00am to 6:30pm, so it mainly catches late-morning and afternoon departures. It’s Mexican fast-casual at $$ pricing, meaning burritos and tacos instead of table service and linen. You order at the counter, grab your food, then head back toward the gates instead of committing to a long sit-down meal.

The menu leans into basics: chicken or beef tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos, and usually a vegetarian option, all in the mid-teens AUD. Expect airport pricing, but not the priciest in T1. Portion sizes get called “decent” more than “huge,” so if you’re genuinely hungry before a 3–4 hour flight, think burrito plus chips rather than just a single taco.

With the 9:00am opening, this is more of a brunch-or-later stop than a true breakfast play, so it works if your flight leaves after about 10:00am. Strongest use case: you’ve cleared security, your gate in T1 is already posted, and you want food in-hand within 10–15 minutes. It fits better into a 45–60 minute window than a tight 20-minute boarding scramble.

Mexican at an airport can be hit or miss, so default to simplest builds: grilled chicken tacos, a beef burrito, or a bowl where you control how messy it gets. If you’re boarding a long-haul or have turbulence anxiety, maybe skip the extra beans and heavy sauces and keep it lighter with a bowl or a single-Protein taco set.

Tip: order takeaway packaging even if you sit for a bit, so if boarding for your T1 gate is called earlier than planned, you can walk on with your food instead of leaving half a burrito behind.
