5–7 minutes by shuttle from T1, P31 sits off-site
P31 Parkplatz is Nuremberg Airport’s main remote lot, set away from T1 and linked by a short shuttle ride that takes around 5–7 minutes in normal traffic. It runs as classic long‑stay parking: you park your own car, keep your keys, and walk to the shuttle stop. The distance to the terminal is too far to walk with luggage, so plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before check‑in opens for your flight from T1.
This is usually one of the cheaper official options at NUE, especially if you prebook online a few days in advance instead of paying drive‑up rates on the day. Pricing varies by length of stay, but multi‑day and week‑long trips tend to come out noticeably lower per day than the closer garages P1 and P2. If you fly out of Nuremberg 2–3 times a year for holidays, P31 is often the cost‑cutting choice compared with on‑terminal parking.
The shuttle runs on a loop between P31 and T1, with headways that typically sit in the 10–20 minute range depending on time of day and season. Stops are clearly signed at the lot and at the terminal near departures. If you land late on an inbound flight after 22:00, expect to wait slightly longer, as off‑peak frequency can thin out when traffic drops.
Because P31 is a surface lot, cars sit outdoors with no overhead cover, unlike the multi‑storey P2. In winter, you may come back to a snow‑dusted car and need 5–10 minutes to clear windows before driving off. In summer, cars in direct sun can heat up quickly on days when Nuremberg hits 30°C, so a windscreen sunshade is worth throwing in the boot.
Practical tip: build a 45‑minute buffer from the time you drive through the P31 entry barrier to the time you want to be at security in T1, covering the park, shuttle wait, shuttle ride and a short walk into departures.
