Slice and soda in T1 without leaving security
Il Mondo Della Pizza sits airside in Terminal T1 at Carrasco International, on the main departures level after security. It’s one of the few spots in the terminal where you can grab a hot meal fast without walking far from most international gates. You order at the counter, pay, then wait a few minutes for your pizza or pasta to come out of the open kitchen.
The menu centers on classic Uruguayan-style pizza by the slice, full pies, and simple pasta dishes. Prices run in the mid-range for Montevideo: expect a slice and soft drink to land around local fast-casual levels, and a whole pizza to cost less than a duty-free bottle of mid-shelf whisky. Portions come generous enough that one large pizza can comfortably feed two average adults before a red-eye.
You’ll see the usual suspects: mozzarella-heavy pies, ham and olives, and a few options with more toppings than you’d get downtown. There’s often a basic vegetarian pizza on the board, and staff usually agree to skip certain toppings if you ask clearly in Spanish. The counter also sells bottled water, soft drinks, and sometimes local beer, which you can carry back to your gate area seats.
Il Mondo Della Pizza keeps roughly the same hours as the main flight bank in T1, with service running from early-morning departures through the late-night regional flights to São Paulo and Buenos Aires. During those banks, lines can build to 10–15 minutes, especially when two widebodies depart within an hour. Seats are limited, so many people eat at the tall standing tables or at the gate.
Tip: if you’re tight on time before boarding, order slices instead of a full pie; they reheat in a couple of minutes and you can easily take them to your gate in a cardboard tray.
