5–8 minute shuttle to Terminals 1 and 2 from P8
P8 Parkhaus is a multi-storey long-term garage on the airport grounds with a dedicated shuttle to Terminals 1 and 2 that usually runs every 5–8 minutes during the day. It’s signed as “P8” on all the approach roads to Munich Airport, so you can follow the blue parking symbols from the A92 and just stay in the P8 lane once you reach the airport loop.
This is a classic long-term option: covered spaces in a garage, typically cheaper than the terminal-front car parks like P3 or P20 if you book several days in advance. Online prebooking often drops the daily rate well below the drive-up price on the boards at the entrance, which can run noticeably higher in peak school holiday weeks in Bavaria.
P8 sits slightly off the terminal core, so you’re trading a short shuttle ride for lower long-stay pricing. Expect about 10–15 minutes from locking your car in P8 to reaching the check-in hall in Terminal 1 or 2, including walking to the shuttle stop and the bus ride itself. Lifts connect all levels of the garage, which helps if you’re rolling two large 23 kg checked bags and a carry-on.
Height clearance is posted at the entrance (usually around 2.0–2.1 m), so taller SUVs with roof boxes need to check the sign before taking a ticket. Payment is at the usual Automaten in the stairwells or at the pedestrian exits: machines accept cards and cash, and you scan your ticket at the barrier on exit. Keep the paper ticket dry; replacing a lost ticket costs more than the normal day rate.
Tip: lock in a prepaid P8 booking on the official airport site a few days before flying; the online confirmation gives you a QR or code that opens the barrier and locks your max price in even if drive-up rates spike on departure day.
