Terminal MAIN hosts 6 airlines. You'll find 4 dining options here.

In 2022, Missoula moved all flights into one new terminal

MSO’s Passenger Terminal is a single-building setup with one shared post-security concourse serving every airline: Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, and United. All departures run out of this Main terminal, so you don’t deal with terminal hops or shuttle buses once you’re on the property. If you land on Delta and leave on United, you just walk across the same concourse in a few minutes.

Single concourse means short walks and simple gate changes

All gates sit off one main hallway, so even a “far” gate usually runs under a 5–7 minute walk at a normal pace. That helps when Alaska or American swaps you from one end of the concourse to the other close to boarding. You see almost every gate from the central seating area, which makes it easy to keep an eye on aircraft at neighboring doors while your own flight boards.

Plan ahead for food, because options are thin

The 2022 terminal upgrade brought a cleaner layout and better seating, but post-security food is still limited compared with bigger hubs. There isn’t a long list of branded restaurants or bars at MSO, and opening hours tend to track the morning and late-afternoon departure banks. If you have a midday layover of 3–4 hours, assume you may be looking at basic grab-and-go instead of a hot sit-down meal.

No airline lounges, so gate areas are your “club”

There are no airline lounges here: no Delta Sky Club, no American Admirals Club, no United Club, nothing for Priority Pass. If you normally lean on a lounge for power outlets and a quiet corner, you’ll be using the general seating around the gates instead. Charging spots run out during the 6:00–9:00 a.m. bank, especially on Alaska and United days when multiple flights leave within 30–45 minutes of each other.

Security is usually quick, until it isn’t

There’s a single security checkpoint feeding the Main concourse, and in normal conditions it often moves in 10–20 minutes from queue to bins. A Flightradar24 reviewer flagged that during a major delay, the terminal felt overwhelmed and poorly prepared, with long lines and crowded gate areas once multiple flights slipped at the same time. For the 5:00–7:00 a.m. departures, locals tend to show up 90 minutes before wheels-up to keep stress low.

Small-city airport, big-city weather and delay risk

Missoula’s weather swings hard: winter snow and summer smoke both push delays and ground stops, especially for regional jets used by Delta and United. When that happens, a terminal that normally feels easy suddenly packs in several flights’ worth of people to the same set of seats. Food and drink options can run low within an hour if 3–4 departures slip into the same block and passengers all head for snacks at once.

Practical tip: bring your own backup snacks and power

With no lounges, limited concessions, and a single concourse serving all six airlines, this is the airport to arrive with a charged battery pack and a couple of snacks already in your bag. Build the buffer on weather days: for an early Alaska or Delta departure in winter, 2 hours at the airport is not crazy, and it gives you time to clear the single checkpoint and still grab a seat near your exact gate.
