Terminal Layout & Organization

Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) operates as a single-terminal airport, with all airlines sharing one facility. You’ll use Concourse E for check-in, security, gates, and arrivals services. The current layout reflects MSO’s modern terminal expansion that opened in 2022 (with the older terminal removed in 2023), so the experience is more centralized than at multi-terminal airports. There isn’t a split between “domestic terminals” or airline-alliance terminals—Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, United, and seasonal Sun Country all operate from the same Concourse E area.

Because gate assignments can be common-use or preferential, your airline may not always use the same gate. Your most reliable checkpoint is the flight information displays in Concourse E after you clear security.

Navigation Between Terminals

There’s no inter-terminal travel at MSO because there is only Concourse E. You won’t need shuttles, trains, or long connector corridors—everything is within the same building. In most cases, you can walk from security to your gate in just a few minutes, depending on where Concourse E is assigning gates that day.

  • Wayfinding tip: Follow overhead signs for “Concourse E / Gates”, “Baggage Claim”, and “Ground Transportation”. If gates shift, re-check the nearest monitor after security and again as boarding time approaches.
  • Meeting someone? Agree to meet at a fixed point like the Concourse E main seating area or near Baggage Claim to avoid confusion if gate areas are busy.

Traveler-Specific Tips

  • Families: Concourse E’s single-building setup makes it easier to manage strollers and carry-ons. Look for open seating near gates for spreading out, and plan quick refuel stops at the coffee shop (upper level) or the full-service restaurant (main level).
  • Business travelers: MSO does not have widely advertised airline lounges in Concourse E, so plan to work from gate seating. Arrive with devices charged and position yourself near outlets when you find them.
  • Travelers with disabilities: Concourse E is designed for modern passenger flow and should be easier to navigate end-to-end. If you need wheelchair assistance or extra time, request it with your airline in advance and confirm at check-in.
  • Budget travelers: Bring an empty bottle and top up after security (water refill points are typically near restrooms). Charging options are most commonly found around gate seating—plug in early if you spot an outlet.

Practical Information

Wi-Fi is available in the terminal, and you’ll get the best performance by connecting once you’re settled in Concourse E rather than hopping networks while moving around. Power outlets are most often located near gate seating areas—scan for charging ports as soon as you arrive in Concourse E, especially during peak departures.

For help, start with your airline’s counter in the main terminal and use posted airport signage to locate assistance points. MSO has been in a multi-phase modernization process; if you notice temporary reroutes or closed sections, follow posted detours and allow a few extra minutes—services still remain within Concourse E and the single terminal footprint.
