TER Marseille-Miramas via Vitrolles Aéroport

Vitrolles Aéroport station sits about 5 minutes from MRS

The TER Marseille–Miramas trains stop at Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence station, a short shuttle ride from terminals T1 and T2. This isn’t an in-terminal rail stop: you take a dedicated airport shuttle bus between the station and the forecourt outside the terminals, and the transfer normally runs just a few minutes each way.

Tickets are sold as a combined airport shuttle + TER train product at the machines and counters in the airport and at Vitrolles Aéroport station. You pay one fare that covers the shuttle bus plus the regional train on the Marseille–Miramas line, instead of buying separate tickets for each leg. Keep the ticket handy for both the bus driver and the conductor onboard the TER.

Trains on the Marseille–Miramas route typically run multiple times per hour at peak periods, with off-peak gaps that can stretch to around 30–60 minutes depending on the time of day and day of week. Check the current TER Sud timetable or SNCF Connect app for exact departures from Vitrolles Aéroport to Marseille Saint-Charles and to Miramas before you commit to a tight flight cutoff.

The airport shuttle between T1/T2 and Vitrolles Aéroport is timed around the TER pattern, with buses making the short hop several times per hour. Allow at least 10–15 minutes of buffer between your train’s arrival and your airline’s check-in cutoff at Marseille Provence, especially for Schengen vs non-Schengen differences and bag drop lines at T1.

From Vitrolles Aéroport, TER trains run directly to Marseille Saint-Charles, which is the main long-distance hub with TGV and Intercités services, and in the other direction toward Miramas and smaller stations in Provence. Connection times at Marseille Saint-Charles can easily drop under 10 minutes on paper, but building in 20–30 minutes makes life easier if you’re hauling checked bags from MRS.

One last tip: buy your combined ticket before boarding, either in the terminal or at the station machines, and validate it on the platform when required so you’re not dealing with an onboard surcharge or a fine on a short hop from Vitrolles Aéroport to Marseille.
