Main Car Park

Short and long stay

Daily parking right outside Terminals A and B

Main Car Park sits directly in front of Maputo Airport’s terminals A and B, so you walk 2–5 minutes from car to check-in. It handles both short and long stay, which means drop-offs for a 1–2 hour meeting and week-long trips all use the same area. Access is via the main airport access road, with clear “Main Car Park” signs as you approach the terminal frontage.

This is the primary on-airport option, with standard open-air bays on ground level. You park in marked spaces, then follow pedestrian paths straight to departures in terminal A or B in under 300–400 meters. The layout is simple: a single large surface lot rather than multi-storey sections, so you remember roughly which zone you used more easily.

Rates run on a short and long stay model: you pay by the hour for the first few hours, then switch to a capped daily charge after roughly 8–12 hours. That makes it workable for a quick 30–60 minute pickup as well as a 3–7 day trip. Payment usually happens at machines or a staffed booth near the exit barrier before you drive out.

The best thing here is proximity: you stay on the same airport property, with no shuttle bus adding 10–20 minutes to your timing. For early morning flights around 05:00–07:00 or late returns after 22:00, lighting across the car park and terminal frontage makes walking back to the car straightforward.

Practical tip: aim for rows closest to the middle of the lot facing terminal A’s main entrance; that keeps your walk short and makes it easier to spot your car when you return, especially after a long day of travel.
