Gate-side duty free right after security in Terminal 1

Malmö Duty Free sits airside in Terminal 1, a few steps after security and before the small cluster of gates. Hours track the flight schedule, so the shop opens only around departing flights and can be closed in quiet midday gaps or late evenings without traffic. If your SAS or Ryanair flight leaves early morning, expect it to be open, but don’t bank on a random mid-day browse without checking the departure board first.

This is a standard Nordic duty free setup: alcohol, perfume, cosmetics, tobacco, plus some chocolate and snacks. Prices on spirits and wine are generally lower than downtown Sweden thanks to duty free rules, especially if you’re heading outside the EU. Expect typical Scandinavian brands on the shelves alongside global labels. The store isn’t huge; think a quick loop in 5–10 minutes rather than a long shopping stop.

Food options in MMX are limited, so Malmö Duty Free doubles as a last-minute snack and candy stop near the gates in Terminal 1. You’ll find travel-sized toiletries that can rescue a forgotten item, but not a full pharmacy range. Staff switch lights off pretty quickly after the final departure in the wave, so late stragglers lose their chance to buy anything.

Practical tip: check your boarding time on the screen in Terminal 1, then shop first and sit later; with such a small terminal, you’re at your gate within 2–3 minutes from the duty free exit.
