Gate area store in the Main Terminal with 7:00 pm close

Duty Free in MGA’s Main Terminal sits airside after security, just past the central passport control area, and runs daily from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm. It mainly targets outbound international passengers, so don’t count on it for arrivals shopping. Space is compact, more like a large corridor shop than a mall anchor.

Pricing on liquor and perfume generally beats Managua city supermarkets by a bit, especially for rum and global brands. Expect Nicaraguan rum bottles in the US$10–25 range, plus standard duty free tobacco cartons and mid-tier fragrances. Chocolates and snack boxes skew touristy, with gift packs clearly aimed at last-minute souvenir buyers.

Selection leans hard into Flor de Caña rum, with multiple ages on the shelf, plus the usual suspects in whiskey, vodka, and gin. If you want something specific like 18-year rum, grab it early; later evening flights around 6:00–7:00 pm sometimes find the top-shelf stuff thinned out. Wine options are basic South American labels, fine for a hotel room bottle but not a cellar piece.

Staff work in US dollars, córdobas, and major cards without drama, though small purchases under about US$10 can move slower while they sort change. No tastings, no lounge-style seating, just a straightforward in-and-out stop. Plan 10 extra minutes between security and your gate if you want time to compare rum ages and perfume sizes without rushing.
