Terminal 1’s Club Airport Premier lounge flies under the radar
This lounge sits in Terminal 1 and mainly serves Club Airport Premier members and partner frequent flyers, but you won’t find many detailed trip reports on it. It’s post-security in T1, so you need a same-day boarding pass from that terminal to get in. If your flight leaves from Terminal 2, this lounge won’t help you; LYS terminals 1 and 2 are separated for security.
Access runs through the Club Airport Premier frequent flyer program linked to Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, with some airlines using it as a contracted lounge for elites and premium cabins. Check your airline’s T1 lounge list in advance; you don’t want to learn at the desk that your status doesn’t qualify after a 20-minute walk out to Terminal 1. Staff usually scan both the boarding pass and membership or invitation for entry.
The space sits airside in Terminal 1, so build in at least 10–15 minutes from security to find it before boarding starts. LYS can bunch departures in waves, and this lounge tends to feel busiest in those T1 bank periods around peak morning and late afternoon flights. If you’re on a late evening departure from T1, expect a quieter room but also less urgency from staff for restocking as closing time approaches.
Food and drink line up with a typical European contract lounge: light cold snacks, simple packaged items, and self-serve soft drinks, tea and coffee rather than made-to-order meals. Think more “hold you over for 60–90 minutes” than “eat instead of dinner at home.” Alcohol usually means standard beer and basic wine, not a premium bar, so plan your expectations accordingly and grab anything specific from landside before clearing into Terminal 1.
Seating generally mixes armchairs and small tables, which works fine for one or two hours on a short-haul day, but this isn’t somewhere you’d aim to spend half a workday. Power outlets can be patchy in older European lounges, so board with at least 60–70% battery or bring a fully charged power bank. Wi‑Fi normally runs off the airport network; if airport Wi‑Fi has been flaky at LYS on your trip, expect the same in the lounge rather than a separate faster SSID.
Practical tip: if you’re on a Club Airport Premier-eligible ticket out of Terminal 1, arrive at security 20–30 minutes earlier than usual so you actually have time to use the lounge instead of just walking past the door on the way to boarding.
