Gate B05 in Terminal 1 is your landmark here

Confluence Lounge sits airside in Terminal 1 Schengen, just above gate B05, and opens early at 05:00 for the first short‑haul departures. It closes at 19:45, so anyone on late evening flights from the B‑gates is back to the main hall. Access runs through airlines like Lufthansa and various Priority Pass‑type cards, and you reach it via stairs or lift to the first floor.

The room is compact, roughly one main space with a few seating zones, and feels more premium than the surrounding Terminal 1B boarding area. TravelGuys calls the design “very nice” and up to date, with modern armchairs, bar‑height counters, and light wood finishes that look more like a boutique hotel lobby than Lyon LYS’s regular gate area. It works well if you have 30–40 minutes before a Schengen departure, less so if you’re planning to sit for two hours.

Food is simple: expect light snacks rather than a hot buffet, so think pastries and cold items rather than full meals at 13:00. Coffee machines, soft drinks, and a small alcohol selection cover the basics, but the setup reflects its role as a contract lounge for carriers like Lufthansa rather than a flagship hub operation. If you need a real lunch before a 12:30 boarding call, you may still end up grabbing something from the public food outlets downstairs.

Capacity is the main weak point, and reviews point this out directly as “very limited” for the traffic of the B‑gates. Once two or three A320s to FRA, MUC, and another Schengen city are boarding within 60–90 minutes of each other, open seats vanish quickly. That’s why regulars time their arrival to about 30 minutes before boarding, duck in for Wi‑Fi and a drink, and then head to the gate as soon as their flight number shows “boarding” on the lounge screen.

Watch out for the evening cut‑off at 19:45 if your Schengen flight leaves after 20:00; you’ll be back in the public area sooner than you think. Also watch the seating: if you walk in and already see people standing near the entrance by gate B05, don’t expect it to clear out quickly. One practical tip: grab a counter seat with a power outlet along the window as soon as you spot one; those are the first to go during the Lufthansa bank.
