Crafts Market Stall 1

Gate-side in Terminal 1, this stall focuses on Bolivian crafts

Crafts Market Stall 1 sits in Terminal 1 at El Alto International Airport (LPB), a few minutes’ walk from the main boarding area for domestic and regional flights. It’s airside, so you can only reach it after clearing security. Expect a tight setup: one compact stand packed with souvenirs rather than a full shop.

Most items here are classic Andean pieces: small aguayo textile items under US$10, alpaca or “baby alpaca” scarves that often run US$15–30, and woven bracelets that go for just a couple of dollars. You’ll also see mini cholita dolls, keychains with Bolivian flags, and small ceramic llamas. Stock skews toward last-minute gifts that fit easily into a personal item.

Payment is usually in bolivianos, but many airport stalls across LPB also accept US dollars and basic card terminals, so assume mixed options and carry some cash as backup. Prices are a bit higher than in La Paz city markets like Sagárnaga, but still reasonable for an airport. Quality ranges from tourist trinkets to nicer handwoven pieces; check stitching and fiber content tags before paying extra for “alpaca.”

Hours at LPB shops tend to track flight banks, roughly aligning with early-morning departures around 04:00–07:00 and evening waves after 19:00, so don’t count on this stall during mid-day lulls. Easiest move: swing by Crafts Market Stall 1 right after security, pick what you like, then head to your gate without needing to backtrack later.
