Week-long North Terminal trips on a budget? This is the on-airport play.
Long Stay Parking - North Terminal sits on the airport estate with a shuttle running to the North Terminal in about 10 minutes. It’s the official long stay option for North, so you park your own car, keep your keys, and skip the off-airport farm-track feel. If you’re flying from South Terminal, you can still use it, but you’ll need the inter-terminal transfer on top of the 10–12 minute bus ride.
Pricing skews better for longer trips than quick weekends: figure around £38 for a day and roughly £224 for a week when you book ahead. Past 7–8 days, the per-day cost starts to make more sense versus the £38 daily headline. If you’re comparing to third-party fields that undercut this by £20–40 a week, this buys you on-airport security and a predictable bus link instead.
The shuttle bus runs every 10–12 minutes in normal hours, straight to the North Terminal forecourt. Door-to-door, you’re looking at about 10 minutes on the bus plus a couple of minutes to walk into departures. Build a 30-minute buffer from barrier to check-in if you’re travelling at peak morning bank times; the bus itself is quick, but waiting and loading can eat the clock.
One FlyerTalk regular even weighed it up for work shifts, calling the North-side long stay “close enough” for finishing late at Gatwick. That says a lot about reliability: official lighting, proper surfacing and standard ANPR barriers, instead of guessing where a minibus will pick you up in an industrial estate at 23:30. If you land back into South Terminal, remember you’ll still be heading back via the free terminal shuttle before you reach your car.
Tip: pre-book online, aim to arrive 45–60 minutes before bag drop closes for North Terminal flights, and screenshot your booking in case the ANPR camera misreads your plate.
