Near the Main Terminal gates, Honolua Surf Co screams “last-minute aloha.”
This shop sits airside in KOA’s Main area, a short walk from the open-air gate clusters, and it leans hard into island surf style. You’ll see the familiar Honolua Surf Co logo on racks of branded tees, caps, and lightweight hoodies that actually work in Kona’s heat. Prices feel resort-level: expect around $30–$40 for T‑shirts and $50+ for sweatshirts, a bit higher than downtown Kailua-Kona, but fine if you’re burning leftover cash or miles credit.
Hours usually track the bank of mainland departures, roughly early morning through late-afternoon waves out to HNL, OGG, LAX, and SEA, but KOA schedule swings with season, so don’t count on late-night shopping. Stock leans heavily to men’s and unisex cuts, with some women’s pieces and kids’ gear sharing the same wall. You’ll also see island basics: $20–$30 hats, boardshorts with loud prints, and the kind of flip-flops you forgot at the condo.
Gift-wise, this is more surf brand than souvenir stall: fewer $5 keychains, more $25 trucker hats and logo stickers you’ll slap on a Yeti. If you want proper Kona coffee or mac nuts, that’s in the generic airport shops; Honolua is for apparel and stickers. Lines spike right before mid-morning flights to Honolulu and the West Coast, since everyone suddenly remembers they never bought a “Hawaii” shirt.
Tip: if your Main Terminal gate is already called, you still have time for a 5–10 minute lap here, but try things on fast; fitting room waits grow when two or three families pile in at once.
