Gate-side in T1, this is KGL’s main bookshop
Book & Press sits airside in Terminal 1, past security and passport control, so you’re already cleared for boarding when you browse. It’s one of the few spots at Kigali International Airport focused on books and magazines rather than snacks or electronics.
You’ll see mostly English and French titles on the shelves, plus a smaller section with Kinyarwanda books and local-interest nonfiction about Rwanda. Expect recent paperbacks, some bestsellers, and a basic mix of travel guides and business books rather than deep back-catalogue options.
Prices run higher than Kigali city bookstores: think roughly 30–50% more than downtown for the same international paperback. That said, if you’re stuck with a 2–3 hour layover and want something to read on a 6+ hour regional or long-haul flight, paying the airport markup can be worth it.
The magazine rack usually carries a couple of East African titles, a few European fashion or news magazines, and at least one aviation or travel magazine at any given time. Stock isn’t huge, so if you see a language or title you like, grab it; it may not be there on your next pass through T1.
Book & Press also sells basic stationery at the counter: pens, small notebooks, and simple A5 pads that work if you need to jot meeting notes or fill out paper forms before landing. Tip: if you care about selection, plan to stop here right after security rather than sprinting by 20 minutes before boarding.
