Primera Lounge

Primera’s old lounge at KEF is gone; don’t plan around it.

Primera Lounge used to sit airside at Keflavík (KEF) as an independent option, but Primera Air folded in 2018 and recent 2024 reports on FlyerTalk only talk about Icelandair’s Saga Lounge as the single airline lounge in Terminal 1. If you see “Primera Lounge KEF” in a credit card perk list or an outdated app, treat it as legacy data, not something you can actually walk into tonight.

In KEF’s current layout, all gates feed from one main airside departures hall in Terminal 1, and frequent flyers posting in the Saga Lounge thread describe that lounge as the only operational airline lounge. None of those 2023–2024 reports mention an open Primera-branded space, paid or otherwise, which is a strong sign the old independent lounge contract ended years ago.

Old guides sometimes said “independent access” with day passes around the €30–€40 mark, but you won’t find live pricing or same-day booking links for Primera Lounge on KEF’s official site or on the usual lounge networks in 2024. If a card benefit (Priority Pass, LoungeKey, Diners, etc.) still lists “Primera Lounge, airside,” expect to be turned away at the airport because staff at KEF now only check lounge-eligible boarding passes for Icelandair Saga or qualifying partners.

FlyerTalk posts about KEF lounges in 2022–2024 consistently point people to Icelandair’s Saga Lounge for Priority Club redemptions, status use, or paid entry, and every trip report in that thread talks about just that one lounge. Nobody mentions gaining entry to anything labeled “Primera,” and there are no current photos or opening-hour notes tied to a Primera Lounge after 2018.

Watch out for third‑party booking sites that still take your money for “Primera Lounge KEF” without a current year (2023 or 2024) review attached; compare the name against KEF’s own lounge list before you hit pay. Some aggregators only refresh product feeds annually, so a defunct lounge can linger on the page long after the doors are locked.

One practical move: before you leave home, check KEF’s official lounge page and your airline’s app for current lounge names, then screenshot it; if the only lounge listed is Icelandair Saga Lounge, assume Primera Lounge no longer exists and budget for gate-area food instead.
