Duty-free sits directly after security in T1 at JTR
Walk out of security in Santorini T1 and Hellenic Duty Free Shops is immediately in front of you, on the only path toward the gates. It’s the single airside duty-free footprint here, so there’s no landside branch to compare prices with or circle back to later. Think tight layout, one continuous shop, and then straight into the small gate area.
Most people use it to grab Greek spirits on departure, with decent stock of ouzo, tsipouro, Metaxa, and international brands in 1L duty-free bottles. Independent guides flag it as a smarter place to buy than some island minimarkets that mark up branded liquor heavily. Expect airport pricing, but still better than tourist-strip shops for standard labels.
Wine is weaker: one TripAdvisor review mentioned only finding a couple of Santorini wine labels, and that lines up with forum chatter. You’ll see standard Greek reds and whites and a token Assyrtiko or two, but not the boutique winery bottles you tasted in Pyrgos or Oia. Regulars buy those at the winery or in town and use this shop for generic Greek and global names.
Cosmetics and snacks fill the rest of the small floor space, with the usual Greek-branded skincare and boxed sweets stacked near the liquor stands. Reviews note that in July–September the aisles feel cramped and queues can spill into the concourse because everyone exits security into the same choke point. Tip: if you want time to compare labels or grab last-minute gifts, head in as soon as you clear security rather than waiting for boarding calls.
