Parkade 3

Multi-storey parking

Parkade 3 is the backup multi‑storey once 1 and 2 fill

When Parkade 1 and 2 at O. R. Tambo start flashing “full” signs, regulars drift to Parkade 3, another multi‑storey option within the same 11,500‑bay airport parking network. It sits on airport grounds, so you’re still in the official on‑site system, not off‑airport shuttles or gravel lots.

The airport lists a total of 8 on‑site car parks, and Parkade 3 is one of the covered structures in that mix. It’s a solid pick if you want your car under a roof rather than in the open long‑stay areas scattered around the wider airport precinct.

Tariffs for Parkade 3 are not published online, even on the main OR Tambo parking guide, which only gives the 8‑car‑park / 11,500‑bay headline. Treat pricing as variable: check the pay station boards or entry booms when you arrive, and compare against Parkade 1 and 2 if you’re staying more than 24 hours.

All three main parkades feed into the central terminal complex serving terminals A through E, so walking time to check‑in is usually just a few minutes. Give yourself at least 15 extra minutes at peak departure banks (early morning and late afternoon) in case you need to drive between parkades looking for an open level.

Practical tip: as you enter the airport ring road, check electronic signs for space in Parkade 1 and 2; if both show close to full, head straight to Parkade 3 rather than circling, then photograph your level and bay so you’re not hunting through a multi‑storey maze after a long flight.
