Late-evening banks at HYD can turn this lounge into a stampede
The Encalm Lounge (Domestic) sits in T1 departures on Level E, technically before security, and runs 24 hours a day. Access works with Priority Pass and some Amex cards, plus paid day passes at the desk. It’s meant for domestic departures only, and Amex lists a 2-hour maximum stay, so this isn’t a place to spend a long layover.
Physically, it’s a large mezzanine-level card-lounge above the main concourse, reachable via the escalator near the T1 food court. One TripAdvisor review calls it a “huge lounge with all facilities,” and you do get basic buffet food, soft drinks, tea, and coffee included in the entry price or card swipe. There’s complimentary luggage storage inside the lounge, which is handy if you’re juggling multiple bags.
Food quality lands in the “OK if you’re hungry” bracket: standard Indian hot dishes, some bread, salad, and a dessert or two. The BoardingArea review notes a chaotic dining area at peak times, with dirty tables and plates left uncleared. Plan on wiping your own space with tissues and going straight for whatever just arrived from the kitchen, since turnover is fast when the place fills with late-night departures.
Seating is the real issue. Reports from 2024–2025 call it overcrowded with long lines, especially around late evening and early-morning banks. Flyers talk about people standing with plates because every chair is taken, plus “questionable sanitation” when staff can’t keep up. Another TripAdvisor user went as far as calling it their “worst lounge experience” and slammed a “complete lack of service.”
Regulars now game it. If the entrance queue snakes down the corridor, they skip the lounge and eat in the main food hall instead, accepting they’ll pay but at least get space and a cleaner table. When they do use Encalm, they tap in about 60–90 minutes before boarding, grab one plate and a drink, then head to the gate rather than waiting for the full 2 hours.
Tip: Landing in T1 with a domestic connection and more than 2–3 hours to kill, use the first hour for a proper sit-down meal in the food court, then check the lounge line; if you can’t reach the Encalm front desk in under 5 minutes, don’t bother.
