Gate-side stop for magazines and snacks at HRE
Just past security in the International terminal, Newsagent is the basic airport shop for magazines, bottled drinks, and last‑minute travel bits. You’ll see it near the main departures seating area, close enough that you can keep an eye on international gate screens while you browse. It’s one of the few spots airside where you can grab reading material before a long haul out of Harare.
Stock runs to international and local newspapers, a rack of travel‑sized toiletries, soft drinks, and some packaged snacks. Prices sit above city levels, as expected in Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, but not outrageous for a captive-airport shop. This is more of a grab‑and‑go stop than a place to linger, and it works best for topping up on basics you forgot to pack.
Hours tend to track the main bank of international departures, so you’ll usually find Newsagent open from early morning flights through late‑evening departures, especially when regional services to Johannesburg and other hubs are running. If you’re on a very late or very early flight, don’t rely on it as your only option and bring water or snacks through from landside if possible.
With no big bookstore elsewhere airside at HRE, this is effectively your last chance for a magazine or newspaper before boarding. Use a few spare minutes after passport control to grab something to read so you’re not stuck staring at the seatback for a four‑hour sector.
