Convenience Store

Hot snacks and cold drinks right past HRE security

Right after security in the International terminal at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, the simply named Convenience Store covers basic food and drink needs for departures. It runs as a small counter rather than a sit-down restaurant, but it’s one of the few spots open in the secure area with both snacks and hot items. Expect packaged chips, biscuits, and chocolate beside a fridge of soft drinks and bottled water.

A KLM economy flyer called the selection “decent enough,” and that’s about right: you’ll find cold drinks, basic coffee, and a few hot snack options to tide you over before a flight. Think reheat-and-serve items rather than fresh cooking, priced a bit higher than downtown Harare but normal for an airport. Grab-and-go here is faster than backtracking to the landside cafés, especially once you’ve cleared immigration and security for an evening departure.

There’s no posted menu online, but you can safely budget a few US dollars or the equivalent in local currency for a drink and snack combo; keep small notes handy as card terminals in HRE sometimes go offline. Seating is limited, so most people just buy and head back to their gates in the International concourse. Use this place to top up on water, a soda, or something warm before a KLM or other long-haul departure.

Tip: Clear security first, then buy your drinks and snacks here so you’re not stuck in line landside while boarding starts at your international gate.
