Curio Shop

By the main International departures hall, this Curio Shop is your last-minute stop for Zimbabwe souvenirs.

This small Curio Shop sits airside in the International terminal, a short walk from most gates, and focuses on locally made items rather than generic imports. You’ll see carved wooden animals, stone sculptures, batik fabrics, and simple beaded jewelry on the main racks. Prices run from about US$5 for keyrings and small trinkets up to US$40–60 for medium-sized carvings, with some higher-end stone pieces going above that. Stock shifts a lot, so don’t expect the same items on every trip.

Most flights at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International depart in the morning and early afternoon, and the Curio Shop generally mirrors those hours, opening before the first wave of international services and closing after the last long-haul of the day. Payment usually works in US dollars and local currency, with card terminals that can be hit-or-miss if the network drops. If you care about finish quality, take a minute to inspect carving details and paint edges before you hand over US$20 or more.

You won’t find snacks or toiletries here; the Curio Shop sticks to gifts and souvenirs, so plan on another kiosk for water or chips. Look for smaller, easy-pack items like soft textiles or flat artwork if you still have a connection through Johannesburg or Addis and don’t want to fight for bin space. One smart move: buy fragile stone pieces only if you still have room in a padded laptop sleeve or under-seat bag to keep them from cracking in the overheads.
