Priority Pass gets you into this central Hamburg Airport Lounge
This independent lounge sits on Level 3 between T1 and T2, just behind the main security checkpoint, and most “HAM lounge” reviews you’ll find online are actually about this single space. You go through central security, walk into the plaza, make a U‑turn, then take the escalator up to the third‑floor lounge level. It’s airside, so you’re fine for both T1 and T2 departures as long as you’ve cleared security first.
The doors open at 05:15 and stay open until 21:00, with a strict 3‑hour maximum stay per visit on both Priority Pass and paid entry. If you’re thinking of a long layover campout, plan on being moved along after those three hours. Morning peaks around the 07:00–09:00 bank can get busy, while mid‑afternoon slots closer to 14:00 tend to feel calmer.
Access works via Priority Pass (including the complimentary one from Amex Platinum) or a day pass at about €45 at the desk. Regulars with credit‑card Priority Pass generally swipe in but say they wouldn’t pay that €45 out of pocket, mainly because the food doesn’t rise above standard self‑service buffet level. If you want a guest in on Priority Pass, check your card’s allowance before you reach the reception desk.
Food runs to basic hot and cold items on a single buffet line: think simple soups, bread, cold cuts, cheese, and a couple of hot trays, with reviewers giving it roughly “7 von 10 Punkten” overall but calling the food itself “nothing special.” Don’t plan on a full restaurant‑grade dinner; eat something light here and grab anything more ambitious landside or at the gates. Coffee machines, tea, soft drinks, and standard beer and wine are all self‑serve.
Seating covers standard armchairs and small tables, with views down over the concourse between T1 and T2 and out to the apron. That open balcony feel is the main selling point, but FlyerTalk users flag the inevitable ambient noise drifting up from the hall below. Free Wi‑Fi tests as solid for email, browsing, and streaming video on YouTube, so you can comfortably clear your inbox or watch a 30‑minute show before boarding.
One practical tip: since it sits immediately behind central security, don’t head out to distant gates in T1 or T2 before using it. Clear security, ride the escalator up to Level 3, take your 3 hours, then walk to your gate once the screen shows your boarding time.
