Top-floor Restaurant Altitude sits above T1 check-in at GVA
On the public side of Terminal T1, Restaurant Altitude sits on the top floor of Geneva Airport, directly above the main check-in hall. This is a proper sit-down restaurant, not a grab-and-go counter, so it works for longer layovers or pre-flight meetups with people who aren’t flying. You reach it by elevator or escalator from the central departure area in T1, and you don’t need a boarding pass to get in.
Restaurant Altitude opens in time for early departures from T1 and typically runs through the main lunch and dinner windows, so you can plan on a hot meal before most European flights. Being landside means you still need to watch the clock for security; build in at least 30–40 minutes to clear T1 once you leave your table. It’s a quieter option than many gate-area cafés, since there’s no boarding noise right at your elbow.
Prices sit in the usual Swiss airport range: expect mains at Restaurant Altitude to run in the CHF 25–40 band, with starters and desserts under CHF 15. You’ll see the standard mix of meat and fish plates alongside pastas and salads, tuned to business travelers and families flying through Geneva. Coffee, soft drinks, and alcohol all come at typical T1 restaurant pricing, higher than town but in line with other sit-down spots at GVA.
Service at Restaurant Altitude runs on full table service, which can stretch the meal to 60–90 minutes during busy T1 waves. That suits longer layovers or people finishing meetings at the airport, but it’s not great for a 35-minute dash to security. If you’re tight on time, ask for the check as soon as your main course lands to avoid a long wait at the end.
Practical tip: Because Restaurant Altitude is landside in T1, it works well for mixed groups where only some are flying; just agree on a time and then head down to security at least 45 minutes before boarding for most European flights.
