Burger King

T1

Right after security in T1, Burger King is the familiar option

Just past security in Terminal T1, Burger King fills up fast during the 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00 rush. It sits landside-adjacent but on the airside side of GVA’s main screening point, so you’re already through checks before you grab a tray. Figure 10–15 minutes to order and get food when lines stretch back toward the corridor.

Prices run higher than in town: plan around CHF 14–16 for a Whopper menu with fries and a drink, and roughly CHF 6–7 for a single burger on its own. Kids’ meals usually sit under CHF 10. Card payments work reliably, and contactless tap with Visa or Mastercard is quicker than chip-and-PIN when the queue hits 20 people or more.

The menu stays standard BK: Whopper, Double Whopper, Chicken Royale, fries, onion rings, and the usual soft drinks plus 0.5L bottled water. Breakfast items like croissant sandwiches and coffee typically run until about 10:30, useful for those 06:15 departures to London or Paris out of nearby Schengen gates. Vegetarian options are limited, so plant-based eaters may need to look elsewhere in T1.

Seating is tight, with fewer than 40 indoor seats, so groups of four or more often end up balancing trays at the standing counters along the wall. Many passengers just grab takeaway bags and eat at gates in T1’s central pier, which are a 3–5 minute walk away. Trash bins fill up quickly in peak times, so check tables for leftover cups and packets before you sit.

Lines spike hard when easyJet and Swiss banks depart around the half-hour, especially between gates in the 20s and 30s. To avoid a 20-minute wait and lukewarm fries, aim to visit at least 45 minutes before boarding time. Last tip: check the order screens for English and French toggles so you don’t lose time at the counter explaining customizations.
