Opposite check-in in T1, this is the sit-down option
Montreux Jazz Café sits landside in Terminal T1, just above the main check-in hall at Geneva Airport, so you can eat here even before security. It uses the same branding as the festival on Lake Geneva, with music photos on the walls and a bar that runs the length of the room.
The menu leans French-Swiss brasserie: think beef tartare, burgers, steak frites and a few pasta dishes, with mains usually landing in the CHF 25–40 range. Portions run on the generous side for an airport, and you can get a glass of local Vaud or Valais wine without needing to buy a full bottle.
Breakfast runs from early morning until around 10:30, with croissants, eggs, and coffee that beats the chains down in the public hall by a clear margin. If you have a 07:00 departure from T1, you can sit here at 05:45, watch the departures board, and walk to security in under 5 minutes.
There’s a full bar with cocktails, draft beer, and Swiss wines by the glass; expect around CHF 7–9 for beer and CHF 8–12 for wine. The bar counter has power outlets at several seats, useful if you need to top up a laptop before a long-haul out of GVA.
Desserts skew classic: a chocolate fondant, ice cream, and often a seasonal tart, usually around CHF 10–14. Coffee comes in proper ceramic cups, and an espresso will run about CHF 4–5, which is standard for Geneva Airport.
Service is sit-down with printed menus, and meals typically hit the table within 15–25 minutes, depending on rushes tied to the 06:00–08:00 and 17:00–19:00 departure banks. If your boarding time is inside 40 minutes, skip a full main and stick to coffee or a pastry.
Tip: Security for T1 is close, but lines spike before EasyJet banks, so pay your check at least 25 minutes before boarding time and watch the monitors from your table.
