Car rental

Arriving at GUM and want keys in hand within minutes?

Dollar’s car rental counter sits in the Main terminal arrivals lobby, immediately after you clear customs. You walk out of the customs hall, turn into the public arrivals area, and the rental desks line that space, including Dollar. That setup cuts out any shuttle ride and keeps things simple if you land late on a UA flight from Honolulu or a Japan connection and just want to drive straight to Tumon or further south.

Because the desks are landside in the arrivals hall, you handle paperwork with Dollar before you ever step into Guam’s humidity again. Bags off the belt, customs done, then 50–100 meters to the counter and you’re sorting license, insurance choices, and card payment. Figure 15–25 minutes from exiting customs to having a rental contract in hand if there’s no line and your reservation is already in the Dollar system.

Dollar’s on-airport setup at Antonio B. Won Pat International often beats off-airport agencies that run 10–15 minute shuttles. You skip waiting curbside for a van and skip an extra loading and unloading of luggage. For anyone landing with surfboards, diving gear, or two large checked bags per person on those full Guam–Manila flights, that one less transfer makes a real difference in time and hassle.

The actual car pickup area sits just outside the terminal, in the airport’s designated rental car lot serving the Main terminal. Staff will usually walk you out from the arrivals-level exit, do a quick walk‑around, and log existing damage on a tablet or paper form. Expect the usual Guam mix of compact sedans and SUVs; if you want a larger SUV for driving to the northern cliffs or down Route 4 to Inarajan, reserve ahead instead of hoping one’s free on the day.

Step-by-step: using Dollar at GUM

  • 1. Land at Antonio B. Won Pat International and follow signs to immigration and baggage claim in the Main terminal.
  • 2. Collect your bags from the carousel, then clear the customs hall; this usually adds 10–20 minutes after landing, depending on arrival banks.
  • 3. Exit into the arrivals lobby and walk directly to the Dollar counter among the row of car-hire desks.
  • 4. Present your driver’s license, passport, and payment card, confirm your reservation details, and choose any extras like child seats or an additional driver.
  • 5. Sign the rental agreement, then follow the agent out to the airport rental lot to inspect your assigned car and take photos of any pre‑existing marks.
  • 6. Leave the airport via the main access road toward Route 10A, then connect to Marine Corps Drive (Route 1) if you’re heading to Tumon hotels or Hagåtña.
  • 7. On return, follow airport “Rental Car Return” signs back to the same general lot at the Main terminal, hand over the keys, and walk a few minutes back into departures.

One tip: lock in your Dollar booking online before flying, then keep a printed confirmation or a screenshot on your phone in case mobile data is spotty in the arrivals area.
