Second-level catwalk gives you direct access into Terminal 2
Estacionamento Terminal 2 sits directly across from Terminal 2 at Rio de Janeiro–Galeão (GIG) and connects by a covered catwalk from the second parking level to the terminal’s second floor. This is a covered structure, so your car stays out of the strong Rio sun and summer storms. Flyers on both domestic and international flights in T2 use this lot as their default option because walking time to the check-in halls is just a few minutes.
The structure is new, partially opened, and described by frequent flyers as bright and well marked, with painted pedestrian lanes on each level. Because it is attached to Terminal 2, it often feels more straightforward than dealing with the older facilities near Terminal 1. Some regulars even park here for T1 flights and just walk or shuttle across, trading a slightly longer terminal transfer for calmer parking access at T2.
This is a fully post-access parking area: you pull a ticket at the entry gate, park in a covered bay, then pay at machines inside the structure or inside Terminal 2 before driving out. Pricing at GIG parking changes often, but reports mention daily caps that are competitive with long-stay city garages in Rio, especially for trips of 2–5 days. If you plan a week-long stay, run the math against off-airport lots, as those can undercut the official T2 rate on long trips.
Watch out for the limited directional signage once you enter the airport road system; FlyerTalk posters say extra signs would make life easier, especially at night or in heavy rain. Inside the garage itself, pay attention to level markings and pedestrian crossings, since cars sometimes cut corners near the ramps. One tip: aim for level 2 or the level that lines up with your airline’s check-in floor, then follow the signs straight to the catwalk and avoid switching elevators later.
