T1

Near T1 security at FNC, Safe Bag wraps luggage in minutes.

Safe Bag sits landside in Terminal 1 at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, close to the main departures check-in area. It focuses on luggage protection services, mainly plastic wrapping for checked suitcases before you head to security. Figure about 5–10 minutes in line at normal midday bank times; mornings around 07:00–09:00 can take longer when the TAP and easyJet queues spike.

Prices at Safe Bag in T1 typically run in the low double digits per piece, with larger or oddly shaped bags costing more than standard cabin-size or medium checked suitcases. They usually offer a basic wrap option and a slightly pricier “protection” tier that adds labels and sometimes basic assistance with damaged bag claims, depending on the package of the day. Bring a physical or digital payment card; cash policies vary and some airport service desks in Portugal now go card-only.

Safe Bag operates daily in Terminal 1 during core flight waves, roughly from early morning departures around 05:00 until the final evening check-ins close. Don’t expect full overnight hours; late-arriving passengers on 01:00–03:00 flights generally see the counter closed. If you’re on a tight 90-minute check-in cutoff for long-haul or non-Schengen flights, sort your wrapping early before joining the airline line.

Watch your timing on busy Saturdays in T1, when holiday charter flights and UK services push both the check-in hall and Safe Bag into short queues. If you care more about catching a window seat than cosmetic scratches, skip wrapping and go straight to airline drop-off. Tip: snap a timestamped photo of your bag at the Safe Bag station or check-in line; it helps if you later need to file a report with any carrier at FNC.
