Near T1 security, Relay is your last-minute Madeira stop
Just past security in Terminal T1, Relay carries the standard airport newsstand mix plus Madeira-themed souvenirs. You’ll see books, snacks, and small gifts stacked right by the central corridor leading to the gates. It’s post-security, so you can shop with boarding pass in hand and keep an eye on your time to gate.
This Relay focuses on souvenirs more than some of their other airport branches. Expect island magnets, keyrings, mugs, and a few Cristiano Ronaldo items alongside Portuguese-language magazines and international titles. Pricing sits in typical airport territory: small magnets and keyrings around a few euros, branded mugs and caps notably higher but still in impulse-buy range.
You won’t find fresh food here like at a café, but you can grab packaged snacks and bottled water for your flight in T1. Think basic chips, chocolate bars, and soft drinks that are easy to carry to the gate. If you want serious local wine or larger food gifts, the duty free further along the T1 concourse has deeper stock.
Stock leans touristy, so use Relay for quick, lightweight souvenirs and reading material rather than big gifts. Best move: grab a magazine or paperback here, then pick up any heavier local products at duty free closer to your exact gate in T1 to save a second walk back.
