Portugal Duty Free sits airside in Terminal T1, just past security and before the main international gates at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport. This is the main shop you walk through on the way to most departures, so you don’t have to detour off the main path to reach it.
Liquor and wine take up a big chunk of the floor, with Madeira wine and poncha gift packs priced more sensibly than many shops in Funchal’s old town. If you want a last-minute bottle, you’ll usually see promos like 2-for deals in the €25–€35 range on standard labels, with higher-end Madeira running well above €40.
Tobacco, cosmetics, and skincare sit in the central aisles, with the predictable big European brands and seasonal travel sets. Expect typical duty free pricing: sometimes 10–20% under downtown Portugal, sometimes identical once you convert from euros. If you care about value, check the per-100ml shelf labels before grabbing premium fragrances or creams.
Food and souvenirs run along the side walls, with local chocolate, tins of sardines, and pastel de nata gift boxes in the €6–€15 band. These pack easily in a cabin bag and usually survive even a 4–5 hour flight. Branded Cristiano Ronaldo items also pop up here, from caps to small footballs, aimed squarely at fans catching photos by the terminal signage.
Lines flare up 30–40 minutes before Schengen and non-Schengen departures, as several gates feed into the same checkout cluster. If you want to browse in peace, walk through right after security, note prices, then swing back about 60 minutes before boarding.
