Opposite several T1 duty free shelves, this is the chocolate stop
In Terminal T1 at Cristiano Ronaldo International, Chocolate Lounge sits inside the main duty free zone after security, a few minutes’ walk from most gates. You’re looking at boxed chocolates, truffles, and bars aimed at gifting rather than snacks under €2. Think Madeira-themed tins, Portuguese brands, plus some international names you’ll recognize from supermarket shelves, all grouped with tax-free pricing on the tags.
Because it’s part of the duty free setup, Chocolate Lounge keeps the same long hours as the main T1 shop, generally opening for the first departures around 05:00 and staying open through the late evening Tenerife and Lisbon flights. Prices skew higher than in town: a mid-range 200 g box often runs around €8–€12, and the prettier souvenir tins climb into the mid-teens. If you want single bars at roughly €3 each, they’re usually near the counter, not in the gift-box section.
Selection leans souvenir-heavy, so you’ll see a lot of Madeira-branded assortments and liquor-filled chocolates right next to the island’s wine shelves. Fresh pastries or made-to-order drinks are not part of the setup here; this is retail only, despite the “Lounge” name. If you need caffeine, hit one of the T1 cafés near the central seating area first, then loop back to grab boxes and bags in one go before heading to your gate.
Practical tip: check weight on the box; those 400–500 g tins eat into a strict 8 kg cabin allowance quickly, so grab smaller 100–150 g packs if your airline weighs carry-ons at the T1 check-in counters.
