Giunti Bookshop

Gate-side reading fix in T1

Just past security in T1, Giunti Bookshop sits near the main departures area and fills the gap if you forgot something to read before your flight. It’s a standard Italian airport bookshop: shelves of paperbacks, magazines, and a decent rack of travel guides for Florence, Tuscany, and the rest of Italy. You’re still airside, so you can browse until boarding starts on your actual gate screen.

Prices sit at typical airport levels, a few euros above city shops, but not outrageous for T1. Expect mainstream Italian fiction from the big publishers, plus some international titles in English and a smaller section in French and German. If you want a Florence guidebook or a Tuscan cookbook as a last-minute gift under €25, you’ll usually find at least two or three options here.

Stock skews heavily Italian, so the English section might be just one or two shelves. Good for airport thrillers, bestsellers, and glossy magazines; weak for niche non-fiction or kids’ books beyond a handful of titles. There’s a standard rack of stationery items as well: basic pens, notebooks, and travel-sized puzzles for ten to fifteen euros.

No formal hours posted online, but Giunti typically opens early with the first departures and closes after the last evening flights in T1. If you care about language choice, check the English shelves first thing; later in the day, bestsellers thin out fast. Tip: snap your book’s barcode and receipt in case you need to reference the title or claim expenses after you leave FLR.
