Gate area in T1 has a single Duty Free Shop
This is the main Duty Free Shop in Florence Airport’s T1, after security and before most gates. It’s small compared with big hubs, but it covers the basics: liquor, perfume, cosmetics, Italian chocolates, and a wall of local wines. Expect standard airport pricing, not city-center deals; prosecco and Chianti usually run a few euros higher than downtown Florence wine shops.
Hours typically track the flight schedule, opening around the first morning departures and closing after the last evening flights, roughly 06:00–22:00. If you land late from a connecting flight into FLR, don’t count on it being open past that. Since the terminal is compact, you’re at most a 3–5 minute walk from any gate to this shop.
Alcohol and fragrance promos rotate; you’ll often see 2-for deals on 1L spirits and multi-pack discounts on brands like Campari or Aperol. Cosmetic brands are standard European duty free names, with travel-size kits near the front. Snacks lean Italian: Baci, Cantuccini, and truffle-flavored items, with many boxes clearly labeled 100 g or 250 g for carry-on planning.
Lines build fast when Schengen and non‑Schengen flights depart close together, especially around mid‑morning and early evening. Figure 10 minutes buffer if your boarding time is within the next 30 minutes, since there are only a few staffed registers. Last tip: shop first, then use the nearby restrooms, so you’re not stuck in line watching your boarding group disappear.
