£10 burgers and €5 coffees: set expectations low at FAO T1

Airside in Terminal 1, Food Court Restaurant sits in the central post-security zone alongside Burger King, Subway and Costa. Think standard fast-food counters and generic cafés instead of a true multi-kitchen food hall. Most mains land around €9–€14, with meal deals and combo trays doing the heavy lifting if you need something hot before UK flights to Manchester, Gatwick or Dublin.

Opening hours broadly track the early-morning departure bank, with shutters usually up by around 04:30–05:00 for the 06:00–08:00 Ryanair and easyJet wave. By mid-morning, queues at the burger and sandwich lines often stretch 10–15 people deep. Coffee, soft drinks and bottled water dominate the receipts; a simple pastry and espresso from one of the café counters will run about €5–€7.

Expect limited variety: the airside cluster is mostly burgers, subs, basic salads, pastries and packaged snacks. Portions tend to be modest for the price, with fries-heavy plates and reheated items more common than anything cooked fresh to order. If you need something more substantial, aim for a burger or toasted sandwich over the driest-looking pre-made wraps in the chillers, and skip anything that has obviously been sitting for more than one boarding wave.

Regulars with 09:00–11:00 departures often eat breakfast at their hotel in Albufeira or Vilamoura and treat Food Court Restaurant as a backup for a Costa flat white or bottle of water. Others bring supermarket sandwiches from Pingo Doce or Continente in town, which go through security without issue. A few Reddit posters say heading to gates in the high 40s and 50s after grabbing a drink gives you a better shot at an empty seat than hovering in the main food court seating block.

Tip: if you care about value, eat in Faro city first and treat Food Court Restaurant as a last-stop snack and coffee top-up rather than your main meal.
