Premier League on the screen, Carlsberg in the glass

Post-security in T1 at Faro, Carlsberg Sports Bar is the go-to spot if a Premier League or Champions League match lines up with your flight. It sits airside past security, so you’re already cleared and just a few minutes’ walk from most Schengen and non‑Schengen gates. It’s a compact corner bar setup, more “watch the game and move on” than settle‑in pub.

Prices sit in the airport-typical $$ tier: think a marked-up pint of Carlsberg draft versus what you’d pay in Faro town or on the Albufeira strip. Draft options lean heavily on Carlsberg with only a couple of alternatives, so don’t expect a long beer list. Food is minimal: packet snacks and basic bar bites rather than full meals, so factor that in if you skipped lunch.

Screens run live sports through the day, and regulars mention catching Premier League fixtures on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. During big games, the place fills fast and it’s common to see standing-room crowds three or four people deep around the bar. If kick-off is within 60–90 minutes of boarding, walk there straight after security instead of browsing duty free first.

Complaints center on three things: price, limited seating, and noise. Seats disappear quickly once a match starts, and groups can get loud enough that it’s hard to talk, especially around evening departures. Many fans nurse one or two pints over most of the first half, then grab cheaper sandwiches or snacks from another outlet near their gate before boarding.

What regulars do:

  • Check fixture times before flying and plan security around kick-off, especially for Premier League games.
  • Head straight to Carlsberg Sports Bar after security to grab one of the dozen or so decent sightline seats to the main TV.
  • Stand at the bar so they can watch the screen, pay quickly, and walk to the gate as soon as it appears on the board.

Practical tip: if a big match is on, aim to be at the bar at least 45 minutes before kick-off to have any chance of a seated view.
