GWK Travelex

Currency Exchange

T1

T1’s only currency counter sits under the GWK Travelex sign.

Right in Terminal T1 at Eindhoven Airport, GWK Travelex handles last-minute cash for trips outside the eurozone. It sits landside before security, so you can sort money out even if you’re just dropping someone off or arriving. This is the airport’s dedicated currency exchange desk, not an ATM corner.

Rates follow typical airport pricing: worse than what you’d get from a fee-free card, but fine if you need €50–€200 in a hurry. They deal mainly in euros, US dollars and British pounds, with other currencies either pre-ordered online or picked from what they have in stock that day. Minimums and fees can shift, so always ask for the exact rate and commission before handing over notes.

Opening hours track T1’s main departure waves and usually start early morning, often around the first Ryanair and Wizz Air check-in times. Late-evening flights sometimes outlast the counter, so don’t leave it until a 22:00 departure to sort cash. Cards are accepted for buying foreign currency, which can be useful if you want to keep some cash aside for your trip.

Watch out for dynamic currency conversion on card payments and for “0% commission” signs that hide the cost in the spread. For most travellers, using a bank ATM in-town is cheaper. Use GWK Travelex when you need small starter cash now, and cap the amount to what you’ll actually spend in the first 24 hours.

One practical tip: if your bank card has a good FX rate, withdraw euros from an ATM in T1 and only swap at GWK Travelex for truly non-euro currencies you can’t easily get at your destination.
