Slaney Bar

T1 ★ 2.5

First airport Guinness in T1 usually happens at Slaney Bar.

Slaney Bar sits airside in Terminal 1, after security but before most of the low-cost gates, and pulls a lot of early “airport pint” traffic. It’s the spot many people hit for a first or last Guinness in Dublin Airport, more out of ritual than anything else. The bar is walk-up style with plenty of high tables, so you can keep an eye on T1 departure boards while you drink.

Opening hours track the main morning and evening banks of flights in T1, with pints typically pouring by around 05:00 and service running into late evening. Draught Guinness runs roughly in the €7–€8 range, with lagers and basic spirits on the same airport-inflated scale. It’s standard pub taps plus bottled beer, nothing rare or specialist here.

The food menu leans into classic bar plates: burgers, fish and chips, chicken tenders, and a few sandwiches and salads. Expect mains in the €16–€22 range and sides like fries around €5–€6. Feedback online skews lukewarm, and the overall 2.5-star reputation says it’s more about a quick drink than a proper sit-down meal. If you’re hungry, stick to simpler fried items rather than anything complicated.

Seats fill fast around morning departures between 06:00 and 09:00 and again from about 16:00, especially on Fridays and Sundays when UK and European runs peak. Turnover is quick, though, so a solo seat at the bar usually appears within 10–15 minutes. Table service can lag during those bank times, and card-only payment occasionally slows things when terminals need rebooting.

Tip: if you just want that one Guinness before a T1 Ryanair or Aer Lingus Europe flight, grab a bar stool, pay as you go, and set a hard “walk to gate” time on your phone 30 minutes before boarding starts.
