Gate-side souvenirs in T2 before your Cairns departure

Eye Love Cairns sits airside in Terminal T2 and stays open for all departing flights, so it’s one of the few spots still trading on those 05:30 or 23:30 runs. It’s a straightforward souvenir shop: think “I ❤️ Cairns” T‑shirts, fridge magnets, and soft toy koalas stacked next to reef and rainforest postcards. If you forgot gifts in town, this is your last easy grab before security calls you to the gate.

Prices run higher than Cairns CBD gift stores: expect around AUD 8–10 for basic keyrings, AUD 15–30 for mugs and caps, and T‑shirts edging into the AUD 30–40 range. Stock leans hard into Great Barrier Reef and Daintree themes, with prints of turtles, clownfish and cassowaries on everything from tea towels to tote bags. Quality is mixed, but most of it survives a checked bag without drama.

The shop runs on an “open all flights” schedule tied to T2’s outbound wave, so you’ll usually find it open from the first international check‑in of the morning until the last boarding call at night. That makes it handy for late arrivals from Port Douglas transfers that hit the airport with 45–60 minutes to spare. Figure 5–10 minutes is plenty to do a full lap of the racks and shelves.

Staff can usually throw purchases into bubble wrap or an extra layer of paper on request, which helps if you’re buying glass snow globes or coffee mugs as gifts. If you’re tight on cabin baggage allowance, focus on small, flat items: postcard sets, magnets and stickers add almost no weight. One last tip: check the clearance stand near the till for discounted shirts and caps that drop under AUD 20.
