Opposite most T2 international gates, Australian Way keeps lights on
In Cairns T2, Australian Way is the main souvenir shop you walk past on the way to international departures, and it stays open for all scheduled flights. That “open all flights” bit matters on late-night departures to Asia, when most landside shops in Cairns close early and this is one of the last places to grab gifts.
The store leans hard into Australia-themed souvenirs: think kangaroo and koala plushies, fridge magnets with “Cairns” printed on them, and standard issue boomerangs. You’ll also see packaged snacks like macadamias and local chocolates, usually in gift boxes that start around the AUD 10–15 mark. Expect airport pricing, but not worse than the other T2 tourist shops.
Australian Way sits airside in T2 after security, so you can shop with your boarding pass in hand rather than hauling bags from the city. Because it’s in the main international corridor, it works as a last-stop top-up for people connecting into Cairns and straight back out again. If your gate is near the centre of T2, you’re talking a 2–3 minute walk at most.
Best move: use Australian Way as your backup plan. Grab serious local goods in Cairns city, then use this shop for anything you forgot: extra keyrings for kids, one more box of macadamias, or a quick under-AUD-20 gift when duty free is rammed and boarding starts in 15 minutes.
