Opposite the T2 departure gates, Skybury covers the basics fast.

This café-style spot sits airside in Terminal 2 at Cairns Airport, a short walk from the regional departure gates. It runs standard daytime hours, generally opening before the first morning flights and closing after the last evening departures in T2. Seating is limited to a handful of tables plus some counter spots, so expect to hover for a chair during the 07:00–09:00 bank.

Food is classic airport café fare: bacon-and-egg rolls, toasties, muffins, and simple sandwiches, usually in the AUD 7–15 range. Display cabinets hold pre-made wraps and salads that work for quick grab-and-go before boarding. Portions lean on the lighter side, so if you have a long sector out of Cairns, treat this as a snack stop rather than your only meal.

Coffee is the main draw here. Skybury pours espresso-based drinks using locally grown beans from the Skybury plantation on the Atherton Tablelands, about 80 km from Cairns. A flat white or long black runs around AUD 4–5, with soy and almond milk usually available for a small surcharge. If you care about coffee quality, this is typically better than what you’ll get from the smaller generic kiosks in T2.

Drinks beyond coffee stay simple: bottled water, soft drinks, and a small selection of juices and tea bags. Alcohol isn’t the focus; you’ll usually find a couple of basic beers and premix cans in the fridge, but nothing you’d plan a long sit-down around. Payment is tap-and-go friendly, and most passengers are in and out within 10–15 minutes.

Practical tip: if your flight boards from a gate at the far end of T2, grab your coffee here first, then walk down to the quieter seating near your specific gate to drink it in peace before the boarding call hits the screens.
