Illy Caffè

T1

T1’s Illy Caffè sits landside, handy before security lines

Right in Terminal T1, Illy Caffè works as a quick stop for espresso and a small bite before you clear security. It’s part of the Illy chain you see across Europe, so expect the same espresso profiles and branded snacks. Seating is limited and often shared tables, so plan on more of a 10–20 minute stop than a long sit-down meal.

Coffee runs higher than city prices, in the €3–€4 range for an espresso or cappuccino, but that’s standard for airport cafes. You’ll usually find simple pastries, packaged sandwiches, and bottled drinks, enough to count as a light breakfast or a hold-you-over snack before a medium-haul flight. Don’t come in expecting a full hot menu or made-to-order mains; this is grab-and-go with a coffee focus.

Hours tend to track the T1 schedule, opening early for the morning bank of flights around 05:00–06:00 and staying open into the late evening when departures thin out. If you land into T1 from an early flight and need caffeine before baggage claim, this is one of the first recognizable brands you’ll see on the public side of the terminal. After security in T1, options shrink, so topping up here first can be the better move.

Service speed is hit-or-miss during the 06:00–09:00 peak, when several departures board at once in T1, and lines can add 10 minutes to your stop. Payment is straightforward with cards widely accepted, though keep a few euros or dirhams handy in case the card terminals act up, which happens in Moroccan airports from time to time.

Practical tip: if your T1 departure is within 45 minutes, grab a takeaway coffee and pastry here, then head straight to security rather than gambling on finding something better airside.
