Other 10 to 30 Philippine Pesos

10–30 PHP gets you a tricycle outside CEB’s terminals

Right outside Mactan Cebu International Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 exit roads, you’ll see tricycles lined up on the public side of the airport access road. These are small motorbikes with sidecars, used mainly for short hops into Lapu-Lapu City barangays rather than full airport transfers. Expect the driver to quote around 10 to 30 Philippine Pesos per person for very short rides, with the price creeping up if you have big luggage or want a slightly longer hop.

Tricycles don’t enter the official airport ranks the way metered taxis and Grab cars do, so you usually need to walk 100 to 300 meters toward the main road from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. The closer you board to the terminal doors, the higher the chance of a tourist markup; locals report paying roughly 10 PHP for a short barangay-to-barangay ride, while visitors often get quoted 20 to 30 PHP for basically the same distance.

There is no fixed journey time or posted route for tricycles around CEB, so they’re best for short connections to jeepney stops, nearby inns, or local eateries within a few kilometers of the airport. Drivers typically wait to fill 2 to 4 passengers in the sidecar before leaving, which can add 5 to 15 minutes of standing time at busy hours. Don’t expect trunk space: one 20–25 kg suitcase plus a backpack already pushes the practical limit in most sidecars.

Tricycles operate all day in Lapu-Lapu City, but the lines outside the access road thin out after about 22:00, and some drivers avoid late-night airport pickups entirely. Payment is in cash only, and small bills matter; bring 10 and 20 PHP notes because many drivers can’t break a 500 PHP bill on a 15 PHP fare. There’s no meter, no receipt, and no official dispatcher, so agree the total price for you and your bags before you sit down.

Practical tip: if you’re heading farther than the first big intersection on the main road, use a tricycle just for a 10–20 PHP hop to a bus or jeepney stop, then switch to a metered taxi or Grab for anything beyond 5 kilometers.
