Jeepneys to MEPZ and Cebu City from CEB

From Terminal 1 arrivals at Mactan Cebu (CEB), you can reach Mactan Economic Processing Zone (MEPZ) and Cebu City by local jeepney for under ₱50 if you’re willing to do short transfers instead of taking a taxi.

The airport itself doesn’t have jeepneys at the curb; you first take the short walk (about 5–10 minutes) out of the terminal access road toward the main highway, where jeepneys to Lapu-Lapu, MEPZ, and bridges to Cebu City run all day from early morning to late evening.

Most routes you’ll see on the windshield include “MEPZ,” “Lapu-Lapu,” or “Parkmall” in big letters; confirm with the driver before boarding and pay the minimum fare (usually around ₱15–₱20 for the first 4 km, cash only, small bills under ₱100 help a lot).

To get to MEPZ from Terminal 2 (international), walk out to the same main road and look for jeepneys marked for MEPZ 1 or MEPZ 2; ride takes roughly 10–20 minutes depending on traffic along M.L. Quezon National Highway.

For Cebu City, many travelers break the trip: first a jeepney from the airport road to a bridge access point or Parkmall, then transfer to a second jeepney heading toward SM City Cebu, Ayala Center, or Colon; full trip can run 45–60 minutes in daytime traffic.

Inside the jeepney, fares are paid directly to the driver or passed forward through other passengers; say “bayad” and state your stop (for example “Parkmall” or “SM”), and expect to receive change in coins like ₱1, ₱5, or ₱10.

Service typically starts around 5:00–6:00 in the morning and tapers off by around 22:00–23:00, with more frequent jeepneys during rush hours to MEPZ and the main city malls, and fewer late at night after 21:00.

These are basic, open-sided vehicles with bench seating for about 14–18 passengers, no air-conditioning on most units, and you’ll often share space with workers commuting to the economic zones or students heading into the city.

If you’re landing late or carrying more than one 20 kg suitcase, a taxi or Grab from the terminal doors is easier; jeepneys work best with a backpack and one small 7 kg carry-on that fits on your lap.

Practical tip: Screenshot “MEPZ,” “Parkmall,” and “SM City Cebu” on your phone and show them to the driver when you board so you don’t miss your transfer point in traffic.
