T2’s main Duty Free sits just past international security

In Terminal T2 at CCU, the Duty Free shop spreads along the main international departures hall, so you walk past it on the way to most gates. It’s fully post-security, so you can shop after clearing immigration and screening without watching the clock for formalities.

Liquor and wine dominate the front section, with standard 1-litre bottles of whisky, rum, and vodka at typical duty free discounts compared with Kolkata city shops. Expect big brands like Johnnie Walker and Absolut front and center. Cigarettes and tobacco sit in a separate area with clear quantity limits posted for common routes to Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore.

Perfume and cosmetics take up a long middle aisle, with testers from brands like Chanel, Dior, and MAC laid out under strong lighting. Prices usually list in both INR and USD, and occasional “2 for” promos pop up near holiday periods such as Diwali and New Year. Stock leans toward mainstream products rather than ultra-niche labels.

Confectionery and gifts run along the side facing several T2 gates, with big tins of chocolates, souvenir tea, and snack boxes ready for last‑minute presents. Local items often feature Kolkata or Bengal branding, so you can grab something regional even if you didn’t leave the airport. Snacks are mostly pre-packaged, not fresh.

Figure on 10–15 minutes to walk the Duty Free section end to end and actually choose items. Best move: check your airline’s cabin baggage rules before you buy liquids, especially if you have a connection with another security screening ahead.
