Biswa Bangla

T2

Biswa Bangla sits in CCU T2 with all-Bengal souvenirs

This state-run shop in Terminal T2 focuses only on West Bengal products, so you aren’t wading through generic India-branded trinkets. It’s in the departures area after security, an easy stop if you’re flying out on an evening bank of flights. Expect prices that start around ₹200 for small items like keychains and postcards, and climb past ₹3,000 for handloom sarees and leather bags.

You’ll see shelves of Darjeeling tea, terracotta pieces from Bishnupur, kantha work stoles, and blue-and-white Kolkata tram and yellow taxi merch with “Kolkata” printed on them. Jute bags often sit in the ₹300–₹600 range, while handwoven sarees can cross ₹4,000 depending on the weave. Quality feels closer to a city boutique than a street stall, so it’s a safe bet if you’re buying a last-minute gift for someone back home.

Biswa Bangla in T2 usually opens from about 06:00 to 22:00, matching the main domestic departure rush. Stock leans heavily on textiles and handicrafts, less on snacks, so don’t walk in expecting a full food shop beyond packaged tea and a few sweets boxes in the ₹250–₹500 band. Staff generally speak Bengali, Hindi, and workable English, and they do pack fragile items with bubble wrap on request.

Cards and UPI both work here, which matters if you’re down to your last ₹500 note before a late-night flight out of T2. If you’re tight on time, walk the central retail strip near your gate, spot the bright blue Biswa Bangla logo, and set a 10-minute timer so you don’t get stuck comparing saree patterns until boarding starts.
