Gate-side in T2, Tea Junction is one of the few spots at CCU focused almost entirely on tea and quick snacks.
You’ll find it in Terminal T2 past security, handy if your IndiGo or Air India flight leaves from the main domestic concourse. It runs on typical airport hours, roughly from early morning departures through late-evening flights, so you can usually grab something on a 6:00–23:00 schedule. Expect a basic counter setup with limited seating, so think 10–15 minutes, not a long sit-down meal.
As the name suggests, the menu leans tea-first: masala chai, milk tea, and black tea by the glass, generally much cheaper than anything from the bigger chains in T2. Coffee is usually available but secondary. Drinks come in paper cups and are brewed in batches, so during peak evening bank (around 18:00–21:00) you may wait 5–10 minutes if there’s a queue.
Snacks skew local and filling: pakoras, samosas, and basic sandwiches priced in the low hundreds of rupees rather than the ₹300–₹500 you’ll see at sit-down restaurants in the same terminal. Portions are small-to-medium, so double up if you’re skipping a full meal. Nothing here is plated; it’s all grab-and-go in paper trays or wrappers, easy to carry back to a gate in T2.
Card payments dominate and UPI usually works, but keep ₹100–₹200 in cash in case of a QR or POS outage, which is not rare in Indian airports. Staff turnover means consistency can vary a bit from morning to night. If chai is a priority, ask for it “strong” and “less sweet” and watch them pour from the kettle, since batches can sit for a few minutes during slow periods.
Tip: hit Tea Junction right after clearing T2 security, before you walk to the remote 20s gates, so you’re not stuck with only packaged snacks near boarding.
