EgyptAir Cairo Airport Lounge

2

Ahlein in Terminal 2 usually beats this EgyptAir lounge

Terminal 2’s EgyptAir Cairo Airport Lounge sits airside in the main departures area for Star Alliance business passengers, but most frequent flyers say the separate Ahlein lounge in T2 is the better call. If your boarding pass says Star Alliance business and directs you to an EgyptAir facility, check the signage: Ahlein often appears on the same boards.

This EgyptAir lounge in T2 mainly serves EgyptAir and Star Alliance business-class departures to Europe, Africa, and the Gulf from gates in the mid-teens to 30s. If your flight leaves from a remote bus gate around T2, factor in a 10–15 minute walk from the lounge to boarding because some buses load from the far end of the pier.

Access here is focused on airline status rather than walk-up sales; it’s primarily for Star Alliance business and Star Alliance Gold in economy on eligible carriers. Day pass options don’t consistently show up in reports, so don’t bank on paying at the door if you’re flying an unrelated carrier out of Terminal 2.

Food in EgyptAir lounges at CAI typically leans on a small hot buffet with dishes like rice, pasta, and stewed vegetables, plus basic cold snacks and bread; reviewers often rate Ahlein’s spread slightly higher using the same EgyptAir catering. If you care about a proper meal before a 4–5 hour overnight sector to Europe, check both lounges and pick the one with the fresher trays that hour.

Drinks in EgyptAir lounges run to soft drinks, juice, coffee machines, and sometimes a minimal alcohol setup, with inconsistent reports about beer and wine availability depending on time of day and local rules. If you want anything specific, like a particular soda brand or a double espresso before a 02:30 departure, scan the fridges and machines as soon as you enter so you can switch lounges if stock looks thin.

Seating in T2 lounges fills heavily around the late-night departure wave between about 23:00 and 03:00, when banks of flights to Europe and the Gulf leave within 90 minutes of each other. If you’re flying on an EgyptAir 23:55 or 01:30 departure, aim to arrive at the lounge at least 90 minutes before boarding to grab a quiet seat near a power outlet.

Practical tip: at check-in in Terminal 2, explicitly ask, “Ahlein or EgyptAir lounge for this flight?” and follow the agent’s advice; locals who fly CAI 10–15 times a year consistently say Ahlein wins when both options are open.
